
Mary Ellen Bower, age 88, formerly of Van Buren Twp., and recently of Sunrise Assisted Living, Findlay died at 8:08 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010. Mary Ellen was born on October 13, 1921, to the late Samuel and Sara (Diller) Bame in Van Buren Twp. near Rawson, Ohio. She married George Franklin "Petey" Bower on December 17, 1943, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2004.
Mary Ellen is survived by three sons: Keith F. (Loretta) Bower of Forest, Ohio, John C. (Jill) Bower of Bluffton, and James E. (Patricia Sewell) Bower of Findlay; daughter, Rachel M. (Duane) Beckham of Findlay; twelve grandchildren: Tim, Scott, Nathan, Daniel, Matthew, Amy, and Adam Bower, Teresa Medvec, Jill Coppes, Dennis Inbody, Kathy Crow, and Kristy Schroeder; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Myers and Kathryn Gerber.
Mary Ellen was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Findlay. She loved to crochet; she made over 100 afghans and gave them all away. She also loved the time she spent and had with her grandchildren. She also loved music, especially show tunes.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington, where visitation was held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Reverend Thomas Lyberg officiated and burial followed in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Van Buren Twp., Hancock County.
