
Kathy Koontz Shepard, 54, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at her home near Bluffton. She was born on March 14, 1956 to Jasper O. “Joe” and Mary (Schultz) Koontz in Bluffton, her mother survives. She married C. Mack Shepard on June 18, 1988 and he survives.
She is also survived by two sisters, Carol (Del) Heath, of rural Rawson, and Cherrie Koontz, of Bluffton; two stepdaughters, Tiffany Marie (Jose) Acosta, of Statesville, North Carolina, and Lillian Kay (Nelson) Van Pelt, of Baghdad, Iraq; three nephews, Dana (Heather) Koontz, of Harrod, Ohio, Lee Koontz, of Philadelphia, and Craig Koontz, of Toledo; sister-in-law, Pam (Doc) Eichholt, of Ottawa; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; and three step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ken Lynn Koontz.
Kathy was a 1974 graduate of Bluffton High School. She was also a former EMT-A with the Bluffton and Beaverdam EMS Units and a seamstress at the Cop Shop in Lima.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton. Visitation was Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial followed in Woodland Cemetery, Richland Twp., Allen County. Arrangement entrusted to Crates Funeral Home, Arlington (cousins of the deceased).
