David R. Town

David R. “Doc” Town, age 56, of Elburn, passed away August 25, 2010 peacefully at his home after a two-year battle against Cancer.

He was born December 6, 1953 in Warsaw, Indiana.

Dave moved to St.Charles in 1970 and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1972. He attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point to study Forestry.

He was employed by Coca-Cola in 1973 then went to work for Miller in 1978. He moved to Arizona in 1980 where he was employed by Coors. He returned to St. Charles in 1985 and was again employed by Coca-Cola.

Dave was a sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and shooting trap, but his favorite was walleye fishing with his friends. The many trips to Alma and Lake Erie were his most memorable. He was a member of Teamsters local #330 he served as a Union Steward and worked on Contract Negotiations. He was also a member of the Illinois Spring Valley Walleye Club, The Bob Kidd Illinois Walleye Circuit, the M. W. C. and past member of Aurora Sportsman Club and the St. Charles Moose and the Jaycees.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Donna McLaughlin Town and his faithful companions of Maggie and Zane; his parents, Robert and Dorothy Town of Bluffton, Ohio; his sisters, Lorie Osinski of GlenArbor, Michigan, Robin (Paul) Miller and Rhonda (Chris) Wenger of Bluffton, Ohio; nieces and nephews, David Miller of Charleston S.C., Ben Wenger of Phoenix, A.Z, Jessica and Emily Wenger of Bluffton, Ohio. Ryan and Daniel Duncan of St. Charles, Matt (Cheri) Binzen of Geneva. Michelle Jongewaard of Morris; in-laws James & Lois McLaughlin of St. Charles, Robert (Janet) McLaughlin of North Aurora and Diane (Mark Duncan) of St. Charles; also many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, grand nephews, a grand niece and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orval and Gwendolyn Town and Charles & Donnis Fisher; his uncle Samuel Coplin of Indiana and nephew Joshua Chidester of Ohio.

Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles; Rev. Alfred Patten officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
