Assistant village administrator position eliminated

In an effort to preserve the budget, Bluffton town council voted to eliminate the position of assistant village administrator at the June 14 meeting.

The responsibilities of the position, held by Nancy Benroth, will be absorbed by other members of village administration.

"We looked at each department and decided what we could eliminate without diminishing service to residents," said village administrator, Jamie Mehaffie.

The move will save the village an estimated $51,000 per year in wages and benefits.

The elimination was effective June 15. Nancy Benroth had been a village employee for 13 years.
